To the hotheads who are angry with Your devotees,
to the families of those who oppose Your devotees,
to the lives of those who destroy Your devotees,
to those who with rage jeer at Your devotees,
and to those who abuse Your devotees,
songs of "the Glory of the Lord" feel like Fire and destroy them; we know it is true.
These songs grant Your devotees all their wishes;
they melt the minds of the singers and the listeners;
they terminate any future births and confinement in dark wombs;
they are capable of burning even the fire itself; and
they can even demolish mountains into bits and pieces!
You have to grant us the ability to sing such songs which are full of Your praise and glory.
(same sound)
in that meter, the war-drums were beating;
(to this sound) beat the thudi (another hand-drum);
to those beats marched the armies of the demons (asuras).
Their anger was destroyed and the heaps of the beheaded corpses were totally
burnt down by Your smile alone, Oh bright and mighty Speared Lord!
You revel on the bosom of Your consort VaLLi, the damsel of KuRavas, who guarded the millet fields in VaLLimalai.
You chose as Your abode, ThiruththaNigai, worshipped by Your devotees, Oh Great One!
