What is Thiruppugazh?

Thiruppugazh — திருப்புகழ், "Sacred Glory" — is a vast collection of devotional verses composed by the 15th-century saint Arunagirinathar in praise of Lord Muruga. Each of the 1,300+ surviving songs is set to a unique metre and melody found nowhere else in Tamil literature. Singing them is not merely music — it is a complete spiritual practice in miniature.
